DigiGold is a digital currency. Among other things, it can be emailed between users, and used to purchase items on the Internet. The first DigiGold currency issued is grams of gold, abbreviated AUG (AU is the atomic symbol for Gold).DigiGold also issues currencies like grams of silver,grams of platinum and grams of pallidium, abbreviated AGG,PTG and PDG respectively. The specific details regarding these currencies(including the backing and redemption conditions) are spelled out in a contracts. The contract is in a form that can be read by both a person and a computer.

To use DigiGold, a new software program is required to be installed on the user's computer. This software is commonly known as a "wallet". The wallet is responsible for generating the cryptographic keys that identify your particular DigiGold account(s). The wallet is used to make payments and deposit payments. These payments are ASCII messages that contain signatures for authentication. The wallet can also display your current balance of DigiGold.
